It’s the first official day of Autumn! While the mosquitos will be leaving us soon, spiders are ready to take their place. We love spooky spider decorations for Halloween, but we don’t want them roaming around our homes. Here are a few tricks to keep spiders at bay this fall season!
Spiders love nothing more than to munch on insects. Help prevent the presence of spiders by making sure your home is clear of insect life.
Spiders have poor eyesight, and rely on vibrations they feel on their webs to find their next meal. Vibrations from music overwhelm and disorient the spider and will lead them to a new spot. Turn up the tunes!
If you see spiders setting up their webs outside or attached to your home, there is a higher chance they have already made their way into your house. Regularly check the outside of your house to clear away webs and push them farther away from your home.
You may like almond here or there, but spiders are not fans of nutty treats. Leave chestnuts on your window sills or by your doors. Spiders are repelled by the scent and will move elsewhere to weave their web. But avoid using raw horse chestnuts, as they can be toxic to humans and animals.
Spray eucalyptus oil outside your home where spiders tend to weave their webs, as well as in your cupboards to avoid unwanted guests. This will leave your home smelling fresh and free of spider guests!
Spiders tend to hide out in dark spaces and are not fans of bright light. Install LED lights outside your home to ward spiders away, and in your home to eliminate dark corners for spiders to set up camp!
